My Journey
Creativity and making have always been a part of my life. Drawing, painting, scale models, writing. I’ve long liked the idea of earning money making, but nothing ever felt like quite the right fit.
Early in 2024 I was working on a small wood project, a custom controller for a flight sim, just a simple framed panel. I took my time with it. Carefully measured. Made sure my saw was square. Got closer and closer until I had made a perfectly square cut. Something I’d never managed before.
It suddenly felt as though a whole new world was opened to me. Here was a creative process that I could do, and even possibly do well enough to make a bit of money, and do well into my retirement years. I also recognized that there was so much I had to learn to build things worth selling, which was also quite exciting.
Woodworking is an outlet for my creativity, intellectually stimulating, and deeply rewarding. I’m having the time of my life with it.
And my journey is just getting started.
